• 4,000 hours raised at Edmonton’s 2nd Timeraiser! Next up: Ottawa!

  This past Saturday, if you were in Edmonton, the place to be was the TransAlta Arts Barn for the 2nd annual Edmonton Timeraiser.   Leading up the to Timeraiser, we are grateful to Mack D. Male for having facilitate a pre-Timeraiser WestJet Contest. Via his blog he asked Edmontonians how they are making their community a better place. Check out the entries here. The winner of the pair of WestJet tickets, Christina Muran, wrote that in addition to volunteering on a Board of Directors she, “…[educates herself] on a daily basis as to what is happening in our city, ie. Prospecto levitra politics, new local businesses, social media, etc, so that I am an informed Edmontonian. This way, instead of complaining about how Edmonton sucks, I can help to make this city better.”

  At the Timeraiser we gave away another pair of tickets, courtesy of WestJet. From the 50+ entries, the winner was Shauna McConechy (@outinc) who tweeted, “Edmontonian’s rock! • Kicking Off the last week until the 3rd Vancouver Timeraiser!

  Guests enjoy conversation and artwork at the 2010 Vancouver Kick Off Party

  Over a dozen artists were in attendance to drop off their artwork and pick up their cheques.  It was great to put a face to the talent, and everyone in attendance marveled at this year’s selection of work. Online levitra Kauf von viagra

  Since the night of the Timeraiser is really focused on connecting volunteers and organizations, the Kick Off night is a great opportunity to shine the light on the art element of the Timeraiser and acknowledge the important contribution of artists to making our cities vibrant, exciting and unique.  We’re very proud that we have corporate partners that allow us to invest directly in the careers of artists.  And since the artists have all been paid fair market value for their work, when they attend the Timeraiser they can really just enjoy the evening, connect with art lovers and watch as multiple people pledge to do volunteer time to ‘earn’ their work.

  The Kick Off night therefore allows us to highlight this relationship – Timeraiser sponsors are investing directly in the careers of artists.  And since our National Presenting partner, WestJet, is vital to our Vancouver program, we were stoked to have the local representative from WestJet, Sam Martorana, out at the Kick Off night last night.  He’ll be rallying his colleagues at from WestJet’ s Vancouver office to come out next week.   We love the Timeraiser mash-up. So much richness comes from inviting 700+ people to mix and mingle with 35+ nonprofit and charities to find volunteer opportunities.
