MOVEMBER is a cause very close to my heart. About 10 years ago my father was diagnosed with cancer. He swore to the family that he would do anything and everything to beat it. He did and has been cancer free since! One thing my dad said was, that getting regular check ups were the main reason why he survived, because early detection is the key!
I have been blessed with a good amount of facial hair and have never been too shy to stick out among the masses. A few years ago, while attending a sales meeting for work, we were challenged to grow a mustache. The winner would get $300. My fine stache and detailed grooming came out a winner.
So last year I heard a radio announcer talk about this MOVEMBER movement. I went to their website and knew right away that this cause was something I HAD to support.
I look forward to MOVEMBER because it is such a smart cause and is also alot of fun. However my wife doesn't like feeling the whiskers when we kiss, she supports my efforts and as I have said "a little uncomfort in the bum once a year is alot easier than dealing with the big bad C"

After 2 years, I am a proud PLATINUM level supporter, and have raised over $2000 on my own.
WHERE will my MO take me?
I would take these FREE tickets to the beautiful province of Alberta so I could go snowboarding with my wife and experience life at its fullest!!

Some people participate in Movember by growing and shaving facial hair after 30 days.
I have decided to take part in this years campaign and shave off my moustache after 30 years.
My friends and colleagues and even family, have not seen me without my "stache" for over 30 years.
My goal was to raise $2000.00 and I am pleased to say, due to the excitement and generosity of many, I am already there and with 2 days to go to raise even more.
Although many seem thrilled that after 30 years I will say "go to the mo", I must admit, that I am a wee bit nervous to "face" myself and others without my moustache. I know this is trivial compared to what that one man in 6 feels when he receives a prostate cancer diagnosis.
The Atlantic Caner Research Institute here in Moncton have just announced they have found a "biomarker" for prostate cancer. This is wonderful news.
I shall contribute in my own small way on November 30, 2010 to future research, treatment and assistance for prostate cancer. I will shave my upper lip.
