A Timeraiser Story:

Romanda and Chelsea
At last year’s inaugural Vancouver Timeraiser, Chelsea Werrun and her friend Romanda Simpson attended with the goal of meeting new agencies, finding new volunteer opportunities and winning a piece of art. After chatting with several agency reps they quickly bid on the artwork of their choice. To increase their chances they also bid on each other’s choice artwork, agreeing to volunteer for the other person’s art if they were lucky enough to have the winning bid.
After the bidding was complete, Chelsea won Romanda’s choice artwork in a random draw. For the past year Chelsea dedicated herself to completing her 150 hour pledge and has subsequently logged over 170 volunteer hours working with a variety of organizations including: Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland, the Storytelling Festival and YMCA Host Connections to name a few. Sticking to her word, tomorrow Chelsea will generously give her hard earned artwork to Romanda. The generosity of Chelsea is heartwarming.
During her weeks of volunteering, Chelsea would often call Romanda and update her progress, just to let her know that she was working hard, and to remind her that she would in fact get to take the artwork home. Each time Romanda looks at this picture, she will be reminded that true kindness and kindheartedness exists.

"Wonders Beneathe" by Shae Salmon
As a huge thank you to Chelsea, Romanda purchased a work of art from another Canadian artist, Natalie Parenteau. The pair of friends encompasses the magic that is Timeraiser. We look forward to hearing more amazing stories tomorrow.
